Warming centers are heated public facilities where any resident can go to during periods of extreme cold temperatures to stay warm and safe.  Several facilities have been designated as an area warming center for those who need temporary relief from the cold:

If these shelters are not available, Hope Haven is open 24 hours and is a no-turn away shelter; Hope Haven is located at 1145 Rushmore Drive in DeKalb.

You can call (815) 748-8400 to locate a Warming Center, and/or request a well-being check for someone who may be suffering from extreme weather.
