The theme for the DeKalb County History Center’s 2018 Pumpkin Fest Historic Homes Tour is “Built in Brick!” Brick is the most substantial of building materials, and all of the homes on this year’s Tour have an enduring quality. To see a sneak preview of the homes, learn about their fascinating story, and even discover information about Sycamore’s famous brick yards and local bricklayers, join Steve Bigolin as part of the October 4th Brown Bag Lunch/Local Lore Series.
Some of the locations that will be showcased on this year’s Tour are 630 W. DeKalb Avenue, 413 Somonauk, and 519 S. Main. They will also feature the DeKalb County Community Foundation/Depot building at 475 DeKalb Avenue in celebration of their 25th anniversary, and the DeKalb County History Center at 1730 N. Main Street, featuring an update on the current construction project and expansion. These locations will be open for everyone to enjoy on Saturday, October 27.
Information about volunteering for the Tour will also be discussed. Volunteers earn a free ticket to the event if they work a 2 ½ hour shift, and training is provided. Tickets are $25 for one, and $40 for a pair and will be available by October 15.
